COOKSEY FAMILY HISTORY
St. Francois Co., Mo.

LYDIA COOKSEY was born in Kentucky in 1826.   She was married to Robert Lawson in the early 1840's.  They came to Missouri between 1851 and 1854 settling in St. Francois County. 

According to Ancestry.com Nancy Stone & Samuel Henry Cooksey are the parents of Lydia Cooksey. 

SAMUEL HENRY COOKSEY ~ Samuel was born 18 August 1800.  He married Nancy Ann Stone in 1822 in Virginia. In 1850 they were living in Cumberland (city), Cumberland County, Kentucky.  According to Ancestry.com Samuel Henry Cooksey died in Warrick Co., Ind. 1 March 1865.

In the 1860 census of St. Francois County they were living next door to Lydia (Cooksey) & her husband Robert Lawson.  In the 1890 census Sarah Cooksey is listed as the widow of David Cooksey.  His Civil War unit was not provided.
