Leslie Hamby rescued this sick mother & her baby from a very bad environment. The mother weighs only 4.5 lbs. & baby 1/2 lb. Mother has a deformed leg with an open, infected wound & mother may have feline luekemia. Mother is not responding to anti-biotics but baby is eating cat food. Many kitty prayers desperately are needed. Photographed: 4 June 2002

This just in from Leslie: "Just got back from South County. Mom is continuing to eat the stinky fish food. This afternoon is the first time I have seen her have the energy to groom baby. This is such good news. See the abnormal bend in her front paw? That is the way she has walked since she was born. Talk about a tough life!" 6 June 2002

Leslie took Lady Jane & Baby Jane to the vet on Saturday, June 8, 2002 to be tested for feline leukemia. Unfortunately, both tested positive. Very sadly & reluctantly they euthanized Lady Jane that day & Baby Jane on June 11. If only people would take proper care of their animals situations & suffering like this could easily be avoided. But at least these two did have a chance to experience love, comfort & a full tummy even if it was only briefly.
