THE RAINBOW  BRIDGE

vmt26a.gif (1721 bytes)

There is a bridge connecting Heaven & Earth.  It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.  Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills & valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.  There is always food & water & warm spring weather.  The old & frail animals are young again.  Those who are maimed are made whole again.  They play all day with each other.  There is only one thing missing:  They are not with that special person who loved them on Earth.  So, each day they run & play until the day comes when one suddenly looks up!  The nose twitches.  The ears are up.  The eyes are staring.  And this one suddenly runs from the group.  You have been seen, & when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms & embrace.  Your face is kissed again & again & again, & you look once more into the eyes of your trusted pet.  Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

This is Nilla (short for Vanilla).  She was the loving and devoted companion of Sam & Bette LaRocca of Florissant, Missouri.  Nilla was born in California in January of 1986, and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on December 27, 2001.  I'm sure that her "dad" Sam who died in February of 2000 was waiting there on the other side of the bridge for her.  She was very much loved, and gave much love in return.  Her "mom" misses her greatly, and knows that one day she, Sam and Nilla will all be together again!"

Smokey.JPG (21134 bytes)

"Here's a picture of my cat Smokey which was taken in 1990.  She passed on to kitty heaven last night [11 Jan. 2002] at the age of 19 years, 4 months.  I'm sad that she died, but also happy that she was able to live such a long life.  Most cats use up their 9 lives much faster than she did.  At one time I had 3 generations of cats.  Smokey's mom, Smokey and Smokey's daughter.  She outlived them all.  She's certainly seen a lot of other cats come and go around here too.  According to a chart at the vet's office she was in her 90's in cat years so I guess it was time for her to go."     Bettye Warner

Lazarus1.JPG (17488 bytes)Lazarus from the Humane Society of the Ozarks

Lazzie  was brought in to us and escaped the first night. We searched for him and realized that mama-baby was barking at the drain-pipe in the back compound area. Good thing that I am small in stature because I had to crawl down the pipe and get close enough for Laz to smell the cat food I had and lured him out by crawling backwards holding the cat food close but not close enough for him to get it.  That's how he got his name.  When I shined the flashlight in the pipe those big eyes open and that was all I could see--two big bright eyes at the end of the tunnel.  It took me about an hour and a half to get him out and he still won't go out back--He is overweight and we have to keep him shaved down because of the dander.  He is persian, approx. 8 and has been with us for three years.  We put him on a diet but he gained weight.   So much for diets.

1993 - 2003  Laz died of natural causes Sunday July 27, 2003.  We have had Laz since 1998 and everyone that came into the Unique Boutique to shop had to take time to seek him out.  One for his size, and the other because of his most unusual purr.  Some said it sounded like a cooing dove, other like a raccoon but whatever it certainly was different.  I know that he is going to be sadly missed by the entire staff and by many of our customer.   He has gone on to animal heaven and will be waiting there to welcome his other mascot friends and all of the humans that have showed him love and attention.    I know that I will most certainly be at a loss with out him and another little chunk of my heart has broken off and gone to heaven with him.     He is buried in our Mascot grave yard behind the shelter.

Sammy-Jo ~ From The Humane Society Of The Ozarks

SAMMY-jO WAS BROUGHT IN TO US 2 YEARS AGO WITH A VERY BAD BLADDER INFECTION  SHE HAS NO TEETH AND TUMORS ALL OVER HER BODY.  WE HAVE HER ON MEDICINE AND SHE IS ONE OF THE MASCOTS BECAUSE WITH HER HEALTH PROBLEMS SHE NEEDS TO BE WHERE SOMEONE CAN MAKE SURE THAT SHE STAY AS HEALTHY AS POSSIBLE FOR WHATEVER TIME SHE HAS LEFT. SAMMY JO WENT TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN 2004.

StaffDog3.JPG (19995 bytes)Regal ~ From The Humane Society Of The Ozarks

Regal was found tied to our back fence in February, 2001.  In fact, it was the coldest night of the year.  She was there for a considerable amount of time because by the time we found her she was almost frozen.   Helen, the other lady who did work at the shelter and myself had to get her body heat up by using our body heat and then an electric blanket.  By the time we had her temp up to normal and got some warm food in her  both of us were so attached to her that she became another mascot.  Her ear shows marks of someone trying to cut them and she has been beat several time because her hips are stiff from being hit.  She is one in  a million and is very attached to Janet but with the dogs we both have at home  it makes it impossible to take her to either house.  She seems to be happy right were she is.

August 4, 2003 ~ Regal was found dead this morning, she is going to be autopsied as soon as possible to found out what was the cause of death.  She was playing and bouncing around Sunday late when one of our animal welfare officers went down to secure the shelter for the night.  Our president, found her laying in the shelter office early Monday morning when she went in to start the days cleaning.  We will certainly miss this beauty because she had been so mis-treated before she came to the shelter and had found that people can be just as good to her as the other people were bad.  There are many who will morn the loss of this lady but none more than our staff, they had always went out of their way to make sure that she was in a safe place during storm because they terrified her.  The Humane Society is a sad place right now, we have lost 2 of our most beloved Mascots in a week.  Regal, will be buried at the shelter just like Lazzie.  Our hearts are breaking but now she can look from the other side of storms with out having any fear and wait for her friends to join her there in their own time.  Bye Regal, I shall miss you so very very much.  Sher  ~ Regal went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2003.

CliffordPuppy.JPG (16497 bytes)"Clifford (at left) Here is the picture of my baby. She is 3 months old and thinks she is Queen of this house. LOL Her name is Clifford. Do you have any ideas on how to house break her? I have tried sticking her nose in it and smacking her butt but that doesn't work. She is a hard headed dog. I can put her out side and she will come back in later and go potty in the house. Hubby is ready to throw her out.
