From Mike Flanigan:  [This] spring is written up in the book "Springs of Missouri".  Here is everything they say about it: "Hopewell Spring rises in a 3-sided concrete box and flows down a natural channel for some 150 ft to Hopewell Creek.  About the turn of the century a grist mill operated on Hopewell Creek utilizing water from the spring.  Presently some of the people of Hopewell use the spring for their domestic water supply and for watering stock.  Nothing remains of the grist mill."

From E.M. Carroll - My husband, Gene Carroll, said he came here once some years ago with my uncle &

cousin to get water.  Photographed: May 2005

While I was photographing the spring there was a gentle breeze blowing & every once in awhile I
could smell the delicious fragrance of the nearby blooming honeysuckle & wild rose bushes.
