DUCLOS, Michael ~ I wish to add a couple of surnames to your Civil War soldier list from Washington County, Missouri. At least I believe them to be from Washington County. There were at least two Duclos soldiers from Missouri. Michael Duclos was in the Confederate Infantry. Leon Alexandre Duclos was in the Union Army. Leon was my gr. gr. grandfather. I am told he deserted on or about Jan. 18, 1863 while in Napoleon, Arkansas. I also know there were several Declues in the Union Army in various Missouri Infantry Regiments. Submitted By: Dale O'Bear
LeCLERE, William Leo - My great-great-grandfather was William Leo LeClere. He is buried at Rabbit Hollow and his grave marker notes that he was a confederate soldier. Deanna Cole McElveen
TALBOT, Benjamin - In 1861 Benjamin joined the rebel army. He was described as a thug, murderer and " a notorious rebel captain, who, by his acts of violence and disregard of all moral and civil laws, has created a reign of terror throughout all Southeastern Missouri." On August 10th, 1861, Talbot participated in a raid upon the Potosi arsenal in which several men were killed and wounded. Talbot was finally killed near the close of the war. WALLEN, Elisha ~ I'm looking for information on a Confederate soldier from Irondale. His name was Elisha Wallen and he was the grandson of Elisha "The Longhunter" Wallen. He served with the Third Missouri Infantry from Pea Ridge to the final battles around Atlanta. He was born about 1834 and died in 1892. I would appreciate any stories or pictures that you could pass on. My e-mail address is hubbardjim@hotmail.com. Incidently, I'm the Director of Development for the Missouri Civil War Museum. Our group is currently restoring the former Post Exchange and Officer's Gymnasium at Jefferson Barracks. When completed it will house a museum with artwork and artifacts pertinent to Missouri's role as the third most fought over region during the Civil War. Our website is www.missouricivilwarmuseumorg. If anyone has pictures of relatives or ancestors who fought in the war we will post them on our website free of charge. Submitted By: Jim Hubbard
